On Friday, October 15th, over 350 volunteers from 20 companies put in 2700 volunteer hours at Zilker Park. The volunteers worked all over the 351 acre park at sites including the Austin Nature & Science Center, Zilker Botanical Garden, Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Barton Creek Greenbelt, and the Zilker Nature Preserve.
The Service Day was sponsored by PwC. Projects included gardening, removing invasive species, building split rail fences, pulling and cutting back weeds, repairing mosaics, landscaping, creating a solar system exhibit, cleaning display areas, replenishing sand at the children’s Dino Pit, building a wildlife watering station, potting soil, seeding wildflowers, maintaining trails, replacing worn out boards, and much more.
