Fall Service Day 2006 at Mary Jane Sims Elementary School On October 13 150 volunteers from Austin's high-tech community converged on Mary Jane Sims Elementary School in East Austin to celebrate the school's advancement as a Recognized School under the Texas Educational Agency's accountability rankings. Just four years ago, Sims was rated Low Performing under TAAS standards. The 150 volunteers, organized by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas, landscaped, painted, cleaned, repaired, assembled math and science projects, and otherwise celebrated the great work of Sim's students, parents, teachers and staff. Fall Service Day 2006 was generously sponsored by Webify.
"As I walk the campus each day, I am reminded of the many contributions that the Entrepreneurs Foundation provided to Mary Jane Sims Elementary School during the Fall Service Day. These many acts of kindness will have a lasting effect on the school and the community. Your group is to be commended for your hard work and your willingness to do good things for children. I am so thankful that our campus was chosen for this wonderful event."
-Texanna Turner, Principal of Mary Jane Sims Elementary School
