Our Success Fall Service Day 2004

Fall Service Day 2004 - Over 100 Volunteers Make this Fall’s Raise the Roof Event a HUGE Success!

Fall Services As part of the Entrepreneurs Foundation’s East Austin Revitalization Project, six homes in the Chestnut Neighborhood were refurbished in just two days!  On October 22nd and 29th, over 100 volunteers formed corporate teams to refurbish 6 homes of deserving homeowners, tackling projects that ranged from cosmetically enhancing a Fall Service
home’s exterior to completely transforming a homeowner’s kitchen.  Homes and sheds were power-washed and painted, weathered wood structures were repaired or replaced, flowers were planted, over 30 cabinets were stripped and re-finished, molded wall-paper was peeled away, outdated wood paneling was removed, kitchen and bathroom floors were re-tiled and a porch railing was erected.  At the end of the day, the lives of these 6 homeowners and each of the volunteers involved were forever changed.

A huge thank you to our volunteers from A Glimmer of Hope, Austin Ventures, Dell, Erick Man Studios, Global Summit Partners, HyPerformix, MegaPath, NetBotz, Newgistics, QuickArrow, Siebel/Ineto, St. Edward’s, Triton Ventures and Whole Security.  In addition, thank you to Hugh Sparks from Hands on Housing for your support and guidance in this effort; and a very large thank you to Wade Osborne from Helping Hands Home Improvement for all your hard work, leadership and assistance with some major construction projects! (Thank you as well to Austin Ventures for involving Wade.) Each of your efforts helped make Chestnut Neighborhood a prettier place to call home.
