Service Days

Since 2005 the Entrepreneurs Foundation has been holding bi-annual service days that benefit either a local school, non-profit organization, or municipality. The service days are designed to give EF member companies the opportunity to enjoy a day-long, structured, team-building experience, while giving back to their community. In-kind donations and sponsorship make it possible for EF to provide a quality volunteer experience that creates lasting, positive change.

Benefiting Zilker Metropolitan Park

Park Director, Sara Hensley, calls Zilker Park the park that is almost loved to death. Hosting a million visitors each year, there is a large gap between the maintenance that needs to be done at Zilker and what our parks department can afford to do. On October 14th nearly 500 total volunteers from 21 different companies donated 3010 volunteer hours to have a HUGE impact all across the 351 acre park. Accomplishments include:

• spreading 10 acres of wildflower seeds
• planting 8 palettes of native grasses and plants
• striping eight parking areas
• spreading 15 yards of mulch
• repairing and painting 8 benches and 6 tables
• removing 60 truckloads of invasive plant species (!)
• installing new shelves
• installing a weather station
• re-gravelling 100 feet of beach around the pond
• building 120 feet of split-rail fence
• setting 120 square feet of brick trail
• building 3 ½ tons of stone into a dry-stack wall
• and much more!
